Hello there lovely, I am so happy to have you here. About two months ago I started this blogging journey, and what a journey it has been! I have done a lot of work and research in these two months and have learned so much. I wanted to share these first two months of my blogging journey with you.
A little while ago I wrote a post about my first two weeks blogging and why I started my blog. If you are interested in hearing about my even earlier blogging experiences I suggest checking out those posts. However, so much more has happened since I wrote that post and I have lots to share about what I have done and learned.
Resources I Have Used/ Invested In
One of the absolute best things I have done to my blog in the past two months is purchase a theme for my blog. I was hesitant to spend a ton of money or invest a lot in my blog at first. But, now that I am very confident it is something I love and want to continue I decided to invest a little money.
The aesthetic and look of my blog was really important to me. I decided to purchase the Valentina Theme by Blog Pixie which I absolutely adore. It was affordable ($35) and the installation was very easy. A set of detailed installation instructions came with the purchase of the theme. I have had no issues with this theme and I really love the look and feel of it. It is exactly what I was envisioning and hoping for.
Another resource I invested in was Canva-Pro and this was a great investment in my opinion. Canva does offer a free membership and you can certainly use that but I really like the features that the pro membership offers. I also love designing graphics and pins so having access to all the available features was important to me.

Set Up an Email Service
The next thing I did in these last two months of blogging was set up an email service so that I could start growing my email list. Now, I’ll be honest having an email list is still completely new to me. I’m slowly figuring it out. I decided to go with Mailchimp as my email service because I have heard great things about it and it is free up until a certain point. I believe that point is either 2,000 subscribers or 10,000 emails sent.
Like I said before I am still very new to email lists but so far I really like Mailchimp. It has allowed me to do all the things I want to do, but it has taken a bit of time to figure it out. Thank goodness for Google and Youtube videos!
Purchased the Genius Bloggers Ultimate Toolkit 2020
So, a few weeks ago I was absolutely bombarded with information about the Genius Bloggers Ultimate Toolkit for 2020. I at first had absolutely no idea what it was, or why all these bloggers I am subscribed to were suddenly emailing me every day about it. Curiosity got the best of me and I ended up doing some research into what it is.
The Genius Bloggers Kit is an annual resource kit put together by a bunch of highly successful bloggers. The kit was $99 and it came with 86 products which as a whole is valued at over $7,000. Needless to say it sounded like an amazing resource so I decided to invest. The catch about the Genius Bloggers Kit is that is only available 7 days each year.
So far I have been able to look at and utilize a small portion of the resources, and I am very excited to dive in and use the rest as well.
Things I Have Been Doing in These First Two Months of Blogging
This may seem like a no brainer, but one of the biggest things I have been working on is producing good content so that when people land on my blog they actually have something to see. And, the more content I produce the more I have learned. I now exclude things I use to add and include different things. I have learned what works and what doesn’t. (Somewhat, anyways.)
Joined Facebook Groups
Another thing I did in these past two months of blogging is join Facebook groups for bloggers. I even put together a post that compiles some amazing Facebook groups for bloggers and you can read it here. This has helped me to connect with fellow bloggers and grow my blog immensely. In the beginning I was only focusing on using Pinterest to promote. Pinterest is still a huge resource and platform that I use but I have expanded to a couple others, including Facebook.
Improved My Pinterest Game
I worked really hard to improve my Pinterest strategy and it was working quite well. Recently however, Pinterest changed their algorithm and now I am once again trying to figure out how to make Pinterest happy. That being said I really tried to improve the SEO and overall quality of my pins. (If anyone has an article or tips on how to work the new Pinterest algorithm please please leave them in the comments.)
Signed Up For and Started Using Twitter
Like I mentioned earlier, I expanded to using a few more platforms to promote my content instead of just Pinterest. One of those platforms was Twitter and it has actually brought in a bit of traffic to my blog so I think it has definitely been worth it!
Learned, Researched, and Learned Some More
I said this in my post about my first two weeks blogging and I’ll say it again–I learn so much from experienced bloggers. When starting a blog there are sooo many things to consider and learn. I had no idea how much I didn’t know. Thankfully though there are some amazing bloggers who have great blogs and resources to help you learn as you go through all the steps and processes of creating and growing your blog.
I have a Pinterest board full of posts and blogging tips from successful bloggers and I have read and learned so much from those posts.
Successes and Accomplishments
Gained My First Email Subscibers
I know this may seem like a small thing to some bloggers who have thousands of subscribers. But I was so excited and happy that I gained my first five email subscribers. This actually happened super recently and I was just proud that I have content they wanted to come back for!
Got Accepted to Google Adsense
I know that it is not super hard to get accepted for google adsense, however I ran into some hiccups during the process. So, finally being accepted feels like an accomplishment to me!
Grew My Pinterest
My Pinterest was doing really well for a while. It has hit a bit of a plateau now because of Pinterest changes. That being said, I gained over 150 subscribers and am getting 25,000 monthly views in the last month. This is resulting in more traffic to my blog which is fantastic.
The Stats and Numbers of My First Two Months Blogging
Alright it’s time to get down to the nitty and gritty. I know I am always interested to see other bloggers analytics and numbers. So without further ado, these are some statistics from my first two months blogging.
Those are the stats of my first two months blogging! Are they anything to gawk at? Probably not, but I am pretty happy with the progress I have made–especially in the past few weeks.
Goals Going Forward
These are the goals I have set for the following month!
My first two months of blogging has been a really great adventure, and although it’s been a lot of work I don’t regret starting my blog at all. If you are considering starting a blog I hope you found this post helpful.
