Importance of Monthly Goals + My September Goals

What’s the purpose of these monthly goals?

Why is it important to have monthly goals? In reality, the 6 following goals you will see for this month are small pieces of much larger long term goals. However, I think it is important to break things down into small manageable short term goals that keep you moving forward constantly.

It’s easy to say you want to build a house, but you can’t just start throwing boards and nails together and expect the final product to be what you imagined. You first need a detailed plan and to follow that plan step by step.

Big goals are the same way. I like to set small monthly goals that pertain to larger goals I have in life and make slow steady progress instead of overwhelming myself with a really large goal that does not seem achievable.

6 Goals I am Going to Start Working Towards in the Month of September

Monthly Goal #1- Take more photos.

My first monthly goal is to improve my photography skills. The best way to do that of course is by practicing, so I want to experiment with photo shoots and different styles of photography. I have a Canon Rebel T6 that I love dearly, but the truth is I don’t use it to its full potential at all and I would like to change that.

Monthly Goal #2- Implement a healthier lifestyle.

Let me tell ya, I could write a whole separate post about all the things I need to improve as far as healthy living goes. But, overall my goal for September is to try to make healthier choices day to day. This includes drinking more water instead of other unhealthy beverages, eating healthier, and being more active.

Monthly Goal #3- Save as much money as I can.

I am preparing to move out in about 5 months and not only have I missed a good chunk of work this last month, my car is also having some issues. Needless to say, its making saving up money for the move a tad difficult. So, my goal this month is to try to set aside all the money from my paychecks that I possibly can and put it into savings. I work in customer service and get tips, so my goal is to only spend my tip money on daily things.

Monthly Goal # 4- Appreciate and take advantage of free time.

I tend to find myself taking on more and more work. There is a balance to everything, and in the last few months I have found that more than making more money and filling my time with work, I am longing for other things.

Some of those things I have already mentioned in this post. I want to cherish the time I have to learn new languages, go on adventures and document them, work on this blog, spend time with family and friends, and as cheesy as it sounds–have time for myself to work on myself.

Monthly Goal #5- Practice Spanish daily.

I was doing really well for several months at practicing and working on learning Spanish every single day, but then I got sick for a couple weeks and fell out of the habit. My language learning goal for September is to spend at least 45 minutes to an hour on my Spanish every day because consistency is so vital for progress.

Monthly Goal #6- Read my Bible daily.

It is so so important to me to read my Bible daily, however because life is so busy it is not always the easiest thing to do. My goal this month is to read my bible every single day. It doesn’t matter how much material I cover, but I want to spend at least a half hour each day really thinking about the material I do read.

My hope is that at the end of the month I will be able to write another post and share with you all the progress I made throughout the month, and also talk about the challenges, experiences, and what I learned over the month.

Those are my 6 goals for the month, I hope that you enjoyed this post! Let me know what your goals for September are, I would love to know. Thank you so much for reading, and I hope to see you again soon.
