My 5 Minute Drugstore Makeup Routine
If you are looking for a simple and affordable make up look than this is the make up routine for you! All the products I use in my daily routine are super inexpensive. That’s not to say that these products are bad quality though. I love and have used all the products I will mention for a long time and fully recommend them! Plus, this makeup routine will only take up 5-10 minutes of your morning.
I have never been a girl who puts on a full face of glam makeup, although sometimes I would like to be blessed with that talent. For the most part I like to keep it simple and natural. I rarely even use concealer or foundation, but I will link my favorite affordable products that I like to use when I do.
Before I get into the makeup routine, I always make sure to do my skincare routine before. I just feel like it makes the makeup look better, and I look so much more awake and bright. Plus, you’re starting off with a fresh clean slate, so I highly recommend this!
Prime That Face

I like to finish off my skin care and start my makeup routine by priming my face. My favorite primer is the Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Prime Primer, Blur + Smooth and it is super affordable at only $7.78! I just take small pea sized amount and gently pat it in all over my face. I do this every day, even if I am not using any foundation because I find that the primer itself smooths my skin and blurs out any blemishes without foundation or concealer. It is perfect for a light, natural look.
The Importance of Eyebrows In Your Makeup Routine

To me, eyebrows are soo important. Even if I am having a crazy morning and don’t have time to do my full makeup routine I still do my eyebrows. My eyebrows can get a bit crazy and I think having neat and put together brows makes a person look put together and elegant. The great thing is that with the e.l.f, Ultra Precise Brow Pencil it takes only a minute to calm down my wild brows. Plus it is only $5.00!
I have rather thick brows so the brushing tool on the one end is very helpful. First I will brush out my brows and then lightly fill them in with the pencil tool. I use the color neutral brown, and usually focus it on the tails of my brow. I also use the pencil tool to define the natural arch of my eyebrows. Does anyone else have a few random spots where hair doesn’t grow as well in their brows? Yeah, same. So, I use this pencil to fill in those spots with thin strokes!
Prepping My Eyelids
I use Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Pressed Powder whether or not I am planning on using eye shadow. This particular product has been a part of my makeup routine for ages. It is only $5.98 and even though I have tried multiple other more expensive powders, I always come back to this one.
First I take the powder on my eye shadow blending brush and blend it across my eyelids. This gives me a good base for any other product I put on my eyelids. It also smooths out any creases and evens out any discoloring on my eyelids. I also blend the powder up towards my eyebrows. I will blend some of the powder right up to the line of my brow to smooth out uneven color and define my brows.

Depending on the day, I will use my face blending brush and blend in the powder across shinier parts of my face. I don’t do this every day, but when I do I notice that it helps smooth my face.
The Best Part- Eye Makeup

I like to experiment with different eye shadow looks. However I usually keep it simple day to day. I like to use one of two things for my every day eye shadow looks. Firstly, I use L.A. Colors Day To Night Eyeshadow Palette- Daylight. It’s only $6.94! Here are the steps I use for the first look:

- I take color 1, which is a light, shimmery brown, and blend it into the outside corner of my eye. Then I blend it up into the crease of my eye to give definition.
- I take the darker, shimmery gold color labeled number 2 and pat it onto the center of my eyelid. I then blend out the line between the gold and brown to make everything smooth.
- Next I take the color labeled 3, which is a light champagne gold color, and focus it on the inner corner of my eye.
- Lastly, I take my eyeliner brush and the dark brown color that is labeled number 4 and draw a thin line as close to my lash line as possible. I like to drag this line out a little farther than my natural lash line to give it a winged effect.
For my second eye shadow look I use Covergirl TruBlend Serving Sculpt Contour Palette. Although this isn’t technically an eye shadow palette I find it works great, and it is only $9.94. I really like to use my contour palettes as eye shadow as well because it creates a very cohesive and put together look. Here are the steps I follow:

- I take the bronzer color (far right) and blend it into my outer corner and crease.
- I then take the middle highlight color and blend it on the center and inner corner of my eyelid.
- Next, I will use my e.l.f. Expert Liquid Liner-Jet Black. I draw a thin line directly along my lash line. I like to bring the liner out a little farther than my natural lash line. This helps make my eyes appear bigger. I will then create a wing with the liner and apply my Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara.
I really love this eyeliner and mascara. They both stay all day long and make my eyes stand out beautifully. The eyeliner is $6.89 and the mascara is $8.80. I definitely recommend these very affordable products!
Contour and Highlight
Lastly I use the Covergirl TruBlend Serving Sculpt Contour Palette to contour my face. I’ll take the bronzer shade and use my contour brush to apply it right underneath my cheekbones. I really love blush and what it can do to brighten up the face. I take that same contour brush and apply the blush shade on my cheeks and right above where I put the bronzer. Lastly, I take the highlight brush and apply the highlight shade on the very top of my cheekbones and to the high points of my face.
To finish it all off I use my face blending brush and blend all the contouring out to a nice even and natural look, so that there aren’t and harsh lines. I will pop on some chapstick and I am good to go!
An Affordable and Quick Makeup Routine
These products are so affordable that all of them totaled up is only $51 dollars! Those of us who have spent much time in makeup isles know that makeup can be really expensive. But you don’t always have to break the bank to find quality products.
This every day makeup routine truly doesn’t ever take me longer than 10 minutes. Of course if you are someone who wants a little more full coverage you can always incorporate in your favorite foundation and concealer. I really love the COVERGIRL Smoothers Lightweight BB Cream and the CoverGirl Smoothers Concealer!
