Hello there lovely! Whether you are a regular visitor of Growing Daily, or this is your first time stumbling upon this little page of the internet, you probably don’t know a lot about me. I have found that it can be difficult to let my true personality shine through in my blog posts. Maybe it is just me who has that struggle. But, I think knowing and understanding the person behind the screen is important so for today’s post I want to tell you 10 things that you may have not known about me before!
I’ll take winter over summer any day.
Yeah, you heard me right! Contrary to popular opinion, I would much rather be in the dead of winter than in the blazing heat of summer. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a hot beach day here and there. But overall, I am not a huge fan of the heat, mostly because I don’t feel very well when it’s super hot out.
If I truly had to pick a favorite season I would be stuck between fall and winter. Cozy months have my heart, and there is nothing more beautiful to me than a fresh snow. You have to admit days spent tucked under blankets with hot cocoa by the fire place are the absolute best, right?!
Clowns absolutely terrify me.
No seriously, they terrify me. I am fine with heights, snakes, spiders, you name it! But clowns…I don’t mess around with clowns. To be honest I am not really sure where that fear started. I never really watched scary movies featuring clowns when I was younger, but I am telling you there is something very evil about clowns.
My dream job would be…
Well to be honest I don’t have a concrete answer for this one. However I’ve always loved the idea of being a cosmetologist. I would also love to do something with interior design. I am also very passionate about photography and graphic design, but thankfully I get to put those things to use here on my blog.
I love languages and culture.
Something you may not know about me already is that I am currently taking on the task of learning Spanish and sign language. I have always loved the idea of learning other languages and exploring other cultures. One of my biggest life goals is to travel around the world, but not just to site see. I want to spend time immersed in new cultures and parts of the worlld!
Skiing is one of my all time favorite things to do.
I am by no means an athletic person, in fact I’m very far from being athletic. I’m sooo bad at sports. However, the one semi-athletic thing that I am pretty good at is skiing. And, living in Montana you have access to some really amazing mountain slopes. There just isn’t anything much better than enjoying the crisp winter air with friends and the gorgeous mountain top views.
Dog or cat person?
The truth is I am an animal person through and through. I love them all. One of my very favorite animals are gorillas, but it is very illegal to own a gorilla. It’s quite sad, understandable, but sad. Instead I have the privilege of being a cat mom to my adorable kitten Cleo. She is the sweetest and goofiest cat, and I love her to death.
I work in a historic hundred year old building.
When people ask me what my job is I always find it a little funny to answer. The truth is I started out at the place I work as a barista. It was my first job and I really loved being a barista, but as the business grew and more of the old building was renovated new things began to open up. I eventually moved from being a barista to a baker which was a great learning experience but very stressful. It was a ton of work!
Now I am working at a deli in that same building as a server, waitress, and cook. Every so often I still help out with baking but for the most part I am in the customer service world, which is quite the experience. Honestly, I could write many more posts about my experiences at my place of work. But for now, it’s a very fun job and great place to work!
My name has been in my family for generations.
My name is Bailey and something I love about my name is how long it has been in my family, in fact it was my great great grandpas. It is very cool to have the story and lineage passed down through my name. And, if Bailey McGraw isn’t the most Irish sounding name then I don’t know what is!
One slightly odd thing about my name is that it is currently a very popular dogs name. I can not tell you how many dogs I have met who are named Bailey. It’s okay though. I like to think it gives me something to bond with them over.
I like my sleep.
I’m in bed by ten, if not nine most nights. You would think that going to bed so early would mean I got up at the crack of dawn. I wish! Unfortunately I do not find it easy to get up super early, but that is something I would really like to work on. Usually I’m awake around eight or eight-thirty, I suppose I just need a little extra sleep for some reason.
If I can, I always have music going.
It is very rare to find me doing something or working on something without music going in the background. I live off of music pretty much 24/7. We don’t have music in the restaurant where I work and sometimes I think it may drive me absolutely crazy! Something about having music going motivates me and makes me happy. It even helps me to concentrate.
Coffee or tea?
Honestly both! However after being a barista I find that coffee drinks with flavor make me feel a little sick, which is quite a tragedy. One of my favorite drinks is lemon ice tea. Anyone who is close to me knows that I will constantly be drinking a Pure Leaf Lemon Tea. I’ve never been a big fan of hot tea but I know there are a lot of benefits to drinking them so I would like to acquire a taste for them. (If you have brand/flavor suggestions let me know in the comments!!)
I am a very mild person.
I am not so sure that mild is the correct word, but I tend to be very easy going and soft spoken. It isn’t to often that I find myself upset or angry. I could probably count on one hand the amount of times I have been truly angry with someone, and I am very fortunate for that. I just tend to keep things quiet and to myself. (Not always the best way to go–let me tell ya.) Or I at least keep things between me and my best friend!
Now you know 12 things about me you didn’t know before! I hope that this post helped you get to know the girl behind the screen a little bit more.
